Hi! I'm MeYonna!

MeYonna SwaVaye, a self-proclaimed urban sexologist and author, proudly hails from Detroit, where her lifelong passion for education took a fascinating turn toward sexual health. Sparked by the innocent query of "where do babies come from" at the age of four, MeYonna embarked on a journey of profound curiosity that shaped her life's mission.

Graduating with a bachelor's degree in Family Community Services from Michigan State University, with a minor in Women and Gender studies specializing in LGBT studies, MeYonna continued to expand her expertise. She earned certifications as a Clinical Sexuality Coach and Sex Educator from the Dr. Rachel Institute, making her a valued member of the American Board of Sexology and a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Post-college, MeYonna recognized the lack of sexual health resources in Detroit, spurring her to create Raw and Explicit in 2017. This initiative is dedicated to providing an open, safe, educational, and enjoyable space, where authenticity takes precedence over sugarcoating.

A committed advocate for community well-being, MeYonna has organized events to facilitate conversations that challenge stigmas surrounding sex, relationships, and sexuality in urban communities. Her outreach efforts include distributing condom bags to promote healthy practices and disseminating information on human trafficking in Detroit to raise awareness.

MeYonna's influence extends beyond local engagements, as she has been a featured guest on numerous podcasts, including Cocktales with Cocktails, the Cognac Room, The 4 cast, and Love is Black. Her impactful presence has also been recognized in the pages of Voyage Michigan magazine.
