Hi! I'm MeYonna!

MeYonna SwaVaye, a passionate advocate for reproductive health and sex positivity, proudly hails from Detroit. Known as an urban sexologist and author, her journey into sexual health began with an innocent question at age four: "Where do babies come from?" This sparked a lifelong commitment to sexual education.

 

MeYonna earned a bachelor's degree in Family Community Services from Michigan State University, with a minor in Women and Gender Studies focusing on LGBT issues. She is certified as a Clinical Sexuality Coach and Sex Educator by the Dr. Rachel Institute and is a member of the American Board of Sexology.

 

Recognizing a gap in sexual health resources in Detroit, MeYonna founded "Raw and Explicit", an initiative dedicated to fostering open, honest discussions about sex, relationships, and sexuality. She also established the nonprofit "Sugar Honey Iced Tea," which educates youth aged 13 to 25 on sexual health and self-love through workshops, outreach, open dialogues, and social engagement in 2017. The organization’s impactful work has been acknowledged by the Skillman Foundation, Planned Parenthood, Trojan, and the Jamie and Denise Jacob Family Foundation.

 

MeYonna organizes community events to challenge stigmas and promote safe sexual practices, including distributing condom bags and raising awareness about human trafficking. Her influence extends beyond Detroit through guest appearances on podcasts such as "Cocktales with Cocktails," "The Cognac Room," and "Love is Black." Her contributions have been highlighted in publications like Voyage Michigan.

With her unwavering dedication, MeYonna SwaVaye continues to inspire and empower individuals to embrace a positive, informed approach to sexuality and self-care.
